Jeanette C. (Szudy) Dandurand

Jeanette C. Dandurand, nee Szudy, age 83, longtime resident of Posen, passed away peacefully December 19, 2022. Born in Harvey in 1939 and was a member of the second graduating class of Bremen High School.  Jeanette married Francis J. Dandurand at St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Catholic Church on April 30, 1960. 

In addition to her husband, Francis, Jeanette is survived by her children, Mark (Lisa), David, Gregory (Kelly), Diane (Thomas Smith) and Jeanine (Steve Zamiar), and the late Jeffrey; her grandchildren, Jonathon, Joshua, Matthew, Daniel, Leah, David, Alex, Gregory, and Kyle Dandurand, Justine Cannan, Kenneth Schroeder, Mia and Trent Kubilis, Ean, Ryan and Zachary Smith, Steven, Stefanie, Dominic and Emma Zamiar; 10 great grandchildren. Surviving also are her siblings, Robert (Mary Ann) Szudy, Kathy Cressy and Stephen (Theresa) Szudy; and plenty of nieces and nephews, and hundreds if not thousands of friends near and far. 

Jeanette was a parish liturgist and pastoral musician who served 62 years in her role as organist, choir director and former school music teacher at Saint Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr Parish in Posen, Illinois until its closing in July 2022. Her love for her faith community was evident not only by her years of service, but by her devotion to multiple parish organizations including the liturgy committee, art & environment, parish council, and more. She served as parish bulletin editor for Saint Stan’s and the San Rocco Oratory in Chicago Heights, Illinois. For more than thirty years, she was a music editor and consultant for the American Catholic Press in South Holland, Illinois, and contributed to The American Catholic Hymnal (ACP). For nearly a dozen years Jeanette volunteered her time to serve as the school music teacher at Saint George Parish School in nearby Tinley Park, Illinois. 

Lying-in-Repose at her beloved parish church, Saint Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr, 14414 S. McKinley Ave, Posen on Wednesday, December 21st from 1:00 - 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M.
