Amos John Roberts

Amos J. Roberts, age 100, U.S. Army Veteran WWII, late of Palos Park, Illinois, formerly of South Holland; beloved husband of the late Bernice nee Schupek; cherished father of William, the late James (Vinnie) and Robert (Sylvia); loving grandfather of Robert (Cate), Rory (Laura), Jeff (Gail), Karen (Mike Minock), Ronald and Randy (Kelly); great-grandfather of Aron, James, Zachary, Krista, Rachel, Shannon, Julianne, Reece, Will and Ellie Roberts, Michaela and Jacob Minock; brother of the late Dorothy Gross and James Roberts; son of the late Amos and Elizabeth Roberts.

Amos served in the European theater with the 71st Infantry Division and participated in conflict in Germany before being wounded. He was honorably discharged in 1943 and returned home to Chicago where he spent the next 39 years as a machinist with the Wyman Gordan Company in Harvey, Illinois. Among many of Amos' personal accomplishments was his attendance at three (3) World's Fairs: Chicago's 1933 "Century of Progress," San Francisco's 1939 "Golden Gate Int'l Exposition"  and New York's 1940 World's Fair. Amos was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion B.I. Post 50.

Resting at the Adduci-Zimny Funeral Home 14522 S Western Avenue, Posen on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the visitation is limited to 10 attendees at a time. We kindly ask that you quickly exit the funeral home after paying your respects to the family so that visitors have an opportunity to enter.
