Remarks from Ubong's Family

From Nsisong Ekanem:As his youngest sibling, I knew my brother as a man of quiet strength. He did not need to speak loudly to be felt. His presence alone carried steadiness, resilience, and an unshakable calm that anchored those around him.Ubong lived 46 years marked by perseverance and depth. He faced life with rare resilience, meeting challenges not with complaint, but head on.He had a deep love for technology, often known for taking apart computers simply to understand how they worked. That curiosity reflected who he was at heart: thoughtful, analytical, and quietly brilliant. His passion for his native country never faded. He remained closely connected to Nigeria, keeping up with its latest news, culture, and traditions, and carrying his roots with pride wherever life took him.He is survived by his parents, siblings, and nieces & nephews who will carry his memory forward. What remains is his strength to continue and face each day, no matter how difficult tomorrow might be. His life showed us that endurance does not require hardness, and that grace can exist even in hardship. He did not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, he repaid evil with kindness, because of this he was called so that he may inherit his blessing. — 1 Peter 3:9

From Kufre Ekanem:
Thank you, everybody for being here to support my family in this untimely tragedy. I’m a man of few words. This is very difficult for me to be up here to share my feelings towards my brother. Although he was very quiet, Ubong’s presence spoke volumes; he was reliable and always willing to assist whenever I needed help. I’m still in shock. I still can’t believe you’re no longer here with us. It’s difficult to put this in words without getting emotional. I wish your life wasn’t cut short, but you don’t have to suffer anymore. I promise to carry on your name and the family. Your nieces and nephews love you and are proud of you. Ubong, you will be missed, and may your soul rest in peace.

From Unyime Ekanem:It is with a heavy heart, but also with gratitude, that I honor and remember my big brother, Ubong Ekanem Growing up, I saw him as the cool big brother he was full of confidence and potential. He was very smart, and even as a child, I believed there was nothing he could not do.Ubong was meek and mild, kind-hearted, and soft-spoken. He was very respectful to most people he crossed paths with. He was not much of a social butterfly; his closest circle was his immediate family. His presence was calm and gentle, and his character was steady.Throughout many life challenges, even during difficult years, he did not give up. He tried every day to live as close to a normal life as possible. His strength was quiet, but it was real.Ubong was an amazing uncle to my son. The bond they shared was truly special. He loved my child deeply and protected him fiercely. He helped care for him as if he were his own. And if I said no, my son knew exactly where to go for a yes.Although it breaks my heart that their time together was cut short, I thank God for the love my brother showed my son and for the impact he made in our lives.Ubong, thank you for being my big brother. Thank you for your kindness, your gentleness, and your love.I will not question God’s timing. I will forever be grateful for the years God allowed you to walk this earth with me.
