Obituary

Julia Grabitz, 88, lifelong resident of Chicago, passed away January 4, 2020.  Beloved wife of the late Rudolph Thomas Grabitz; loving mother of Gary (Deborah) and Tim Grabitz; cherished grandmother of Amanda Werderman and great grandmother of Mackenzie, Danasja, Martell and Dontrell; dearest sister of the late Ann (the late Ed) Schultz and the late Michael (the late Mae), the late William and the late Frank (the late Florence) Sydor;  fond aunt and great aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Known as the "dessert lady" for always bringing scrumptious desserts to every party, Julia's talents in the kitchen went far beyond baking.  She was an excellent cook and guests always enjoyed flocking to her home to fill themselves to the gills with her warmth and delightful dishes.  Homemaking is definitely a skill and Julia had it mastered.  Her love for plants made her a green thumb with the ability to revive even the most failing plants.  Julia loved shopping and sitting on the front porch swing just relaxing while watching her great grandchildren play.  Referred to as the grandma with the white hair, Julia's great grandchildren were the apple of her eye.  She was a "little buddy" to them as well as her family and truly adored all of her nieces and nephews.  Julia was a strong Catholic, deeply rooted in her faith.  She was a caring woman who was passionate about her family and deeply loved by all who knew her.  She will be profoundly missed and never forgotten.
