Helen Marie Herbst, age 70, a cherished member of Posen, passed away May 14, 2024.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Genevieve Herbst, nee Opilka; loving sister of Richard (Sandy) and Steve (Lourdes) Herbst; cherished aunt of David and Stephanie Herbst, Heather (Michael) Antoniazzi, Lisa (David) Hillhouse and Katherine (Nicholas) Myers and proud great aunt of Alyssa and Kyle Antoniazzi, Clara and Jason Hillhouse and Emma and Lily Myers.

Helen dedicated her life to shaping young minds and nurturing the students under her care as a school teacher at St. George School in Manteno for more than 35 years. Her passion for education and unwavering commitment to her students left a lasting impact on all who knew her.  Helen's influence extended far beyond the classroom, touching the lives of countless individuals with her compassion and grace.

Throughout her life, Helen exemplified a true love for her faith and St. Stanislaus Church where she was a lifelong, devoted member.  She seized every opportunity to serve with unwavering dedication. Her keen eye for photography beautifully captured the essence of countless church events, preserving cherished memories for generations to come.  Her kindness, generosity, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway, Palos Hills. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip. The Mass was recorded and can be viewed by clicking her e and scrolling down.
